The Bridgeton Main Street Association (BMSA) is a volunteer driven, staff facilitated, non-profit organization whose mission is to revitalize the city's historic downtown and adjacent commercial corridors. In working towards achieving its goals, the BMSA is committed to using the time tested Main Street 4 Point Approach.

The BMSA is guided by a board of trustees comprised of local business owners and residents. In addition to the Board, the association employs an Executive Director to facilitate the successful completion of the Board's revitalization and management policies. These policies are developed to assist existing businesses, help new businesses establish themselves, and promote growth within Bridgeton's traditional shopping center.

  • What is Main Street?
Main Street is a comprehensive revitalization program that promotes the historic and economic redevelopment of traditional business districts in New Jersey.

  • Why does Main Street work?
Our volunteers work with the state and federal governments to put in place a new system of growth and development for our community. The system is based on a national network of over 1400 towns who have chosen to share their successes and failures with other towns across the country who, like them, have suffered from declining economies. This system utilizes the creation of volunteer committees which look to improve the essential aspects of the town.

  • What is the BMSA Mission?
To promote a positive image of our city by acting as responsible stewards of all our resources: architectural, social and economical. To develop strong ties between the residents, business community and the governing body of the City of Bridgeton and to encourage continued community involvement in the redevelopment of Bridgeton in order to build a strong community for all ethnic groups.

  • How can I become a Member of BMSA?
BMSA maintains a membership of over 100 members who actively participate in meetings and contribute yearly dues that support our events and promotions. We are always actively recruiting new members and businesses both downtown and out of the district. We also offer members of the community the opportunity to join as volunteers.

  • What are the advantages of becoming a member of BMSA?
BMSA assists new, and current, businesses in the downtown with Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) facade grants for exterior rehabilitation. BMSA takes an active role in promoting Downtown Bridgeton such as grand opening ceremonies as well as through constant contact with media. A member can actively participate in social gathering of merchants to share and compare the progress of the business. Also, guest speakers are invited to speak in local functions including meetings on subjects relevant to the downtown revitalization efforts.

  • Where do I send my contributions?
If you wish to make a monetary contribution or donate an item please contact the BMSA President, or  Executive Director at 856-453-8130. Your contribution will help enhance the appearance of the downtown and public relations.
