The Zoning Officer administers
Chapter 370 (Zoning) of the City Code, and performs the duties of the
Zoning Officer (§370-85). In this capacity, zoning approval is
the first step required for certain types of construction and property
uses. If you plan to alter your property in any way it is
recommended that you contact the Zoning Officer to see if a Zoning
Permit if necessary. If a permit application is required, the
Zoning Officer will review the intended work for compliance with the
City's Land Use laws. Zoning regulations also include the use
& placement of signs.
To
obtain zoning approval, you must get a Zoning Permit application
from the Planning Office (second floor of the City Hall Annex).
Complete this one-page form, and include a copy of your survey/plot
plan with the proposed construction drawn and highlighted on the
survey. Be sure the survey is up to date to include any
additions/deletions made since the date of the survey.

No application will be accepted without posting the necessary
fees. Please contact the Board Secretary (451-3407) to determine the appropriate application fee.
The
Zoning Officer will review your application and provide you with zoning
approval; or, in the case of a denial, the opportunity to revise your
application or pursue a variance from the Zoning Board of
Adjustment. A variance gives you permission to depart from the
requirements of a zoning ordinance. You will be notified by mail
of your approval or denial.
