Central Business District Redevelopment Plan

The City of Bridgeton is seeking a highly qualified consultant team to conduct the necessary studies/analysis and prepare a Redevelopment Plan for the Downtown Central Business District (CBD). The CBD Redevelopment Plan provides the foundation for revitalization of the downtown as it relates to eliminating deleterious conditions to commercial and retail development.

This particular site sits on a major vehicle traffic artery within the City of Bridgeton (Irving Ave) and is adjacent to a small shopping plaza with several retail stores that serve neighborhood residents. This property was a former Gas Station that has not been functional for several years.



Pheonix Redevelopment Area

The Phoenix Redevelopment area is comprised of both publicly and privately owned lands. The mixed use development could potentially include a limited number of small retail stores adhering to “Retail Services” guidelines as specified in the Phoenix Redevelopment Plan. Other uses include, senior citizen or assisted living centers, General business, professional, corporate, mixed use
residential, warehousing and distribution, and churches and community centers. All principal permitted uses must adhere to any specified guidelines in the Phoenix Redevelopment Plan. Redevelopment proposals which promote mixed use and/or multiply coordinated uses utilizing shared parking and open
space will receive priority. Stand alone uses will receive lowest consideration.



168 E. Commerce St.

The location for this Hotel/Inn is a historic Classical Revival style two story brick structure located on E. Commerce St. across from the City Hall Annex building. This structure dates back to 1931 and serves as the City Hall, housing the Bridgeton Police Department, City Council Chambers, and Municipal Court Offices. When those departments and offices move to their new location in the next 6-12 months, the structure will be vacant and ready for adaptive reuse.

The location for this site is a historic two story brick structure located on Irving Ave. This structure dates back to the early 1900’s and was used as an elementary school before being utilized as an accessory services building for Bridgeton Hospital and most recently as Early Childcare Center. Currently the structure is vacant and owned by the City of Bridgeton. This structure sits on Irving Ave which is a main artery in the City of Bridgeton and Cumberland County.
