Dennis Thompson

Councilman Thompson was elected to City Council in 2010

Councilman Thompson serves as City Council's liaison for Bridgeton's Senior citizen groups and organizations, as well as handling individual senior constituent concerns throughout the community. Aside from his work with seniors, Councilman Thompson also serves as liaison for Affirmative Action and Youth issues.

Governmental Experience
Councilman Thompson is in his fourth year as an elected official, serving on City Council since 2010

Councilman Thompson holds a Bachelors of Theology from Jamison Bible College, as well as a Doctrine of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary. In addition, Councilman Thompson is a Graduate of the Institute of Photography in New York City. He is also an alumni of the Leadership Cumberland County program.

Councilman Thompson celebrated his 30th wedding anniversary in 2013 and is the proud father of 3 Sons and 5 Grandchildren.

Principles and Ideas
"I never considered myself as a politician. Many have used politics only as forum to push their personal agenda; I have none. I consider myself just an average citizen who simply cares about his community, and is willing to do something about it. Martin Luther King once said, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter". I pride myself in being and councilman that is honest, just, and caring for all. -Councilman Dennis Thompson 2013-

Volunteer work –
Councilman Thompson currently serves as a Chaplin in the Bridgeton Police Chaplaincy Program. He also ministers at South Woods State Prison in Bridgeton NJ. Councilman Thompson serves on the Board of Directors for the Bridgeton Municipal Alliance and teaches theology at Last Day Remnant Bible Institute in Bridgeton.

Hobbies and Interests
In his down time, Councilman Thompson loves to golf, but even in his spare time his focus is always towards serving God and helping people. Toward that end, Councilman Thompson has served as a Pastor for over 20 years, having been elevated to the office of Bishop. He also serves as a chairman on the board of the Inter-denominational Fellowship of Christian Churches in Trenton, NJ, and Light of the World International Fellowship of Churches in Hopkinsville, KY.
