The Office of Community Development is a division of the Development and Planning Department.
Its responsibilities include:
- Preserving, promoting, and developing the City's interests in the areas of housing, public facilities, neighborhood improvements and community services.
- Researching, applying for and administering state, federal, and private grant funding for City sponsored programs.
- Working with other City departments, offices or agencies to securing operation and program funding.
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
The City of Bridgeton receives Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the US Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) to support a variety of community needs such as housing rehabilitation (roof, structural, electrical, plumbing, heating), historic preservation, new home construction, infrastructure repairs (sidewalks, lighting, curbing, etc.), public facility and recreation improvements and elimination of neighborhood blight.
Program eligibility requirements are established by HUD and applicants may be required to provide financial and other personal information as part of the application process. Residents and nonprofit (501C-3) organizations seeking program funding are encouraged to contact the Office of Development & Planning Department to learn more about available programs and funding opportunities.
